Sampling Sinusoidal Images

The following applet shows a sinusoidal image where you can vary either the horizontal or the vertical frequency over a range from 0 to just under 1 cycle per pixel. Notice what happens when you cross the halfway point, 0.5 cycles per pixel.  This is the Nyquist frequency. The perceived frequency begins to drop, much as it did in the audio example.
