Tcl and Java Programming: Practice and Pitfalls

This is the on-line version of the Tcl-Java tutorial. Feel free to read these notes and work through the examples. Send us email if you have any questions or comments, or find bugs. The notes are written with the expectation that you will enter the examples as you read the text.

We would, of course, also like it if you come to the tutorial in September. There, you'll be able to grill us in person. :)

Typographic notes

• Indented text in a smaller type-face is optional material.

  Why?
  Because every now and then we felt that we needed to provide more explanation, but didn't want to interrupt the flow of the presentation. This is as close as we could get to sidebars and remain friends with HTML. :)

• Indented text in the same type-face is a potential pitfall.

  Bogon alert!
  Don't be alarmed at the number of them! They aren't all bugs. We wanted to highlight things that we thought might trip you up (usually, either because they already tripped us or one of our beta testers up).
